There is something intrinsically surreal about masked nudes. Everything is displayed but we are deprived of the one thing that enables us to identify an individual human.
In any photograph there is an element of voyeurism when the subject looks away from the camera. We are unseen observers of a private moment. When the model looks to the camera there is an element of connection. Our relationship with the subject becomes more intimate. She is challenging the viewer, identifying us even though we cannot identify her. We are unmasked. Read The Nude in Photography
