FAQ

Enthusiasm and reliability are more important than experience.

Do I need to be experienced? I have worked with a lot of models, many of whom had never been in front of the camera before. For fine art work I actually prefer inexperienced models.

What will happen to my photos? All my work with models is taken for possible publication so you must also be willing to sign a model release . If you don’t want to be seen naked on the internet then don’t apply. I never use or reveal the models real name.

What is a model release? Read my modelling guide.

Am I old enough or too old? All models I work with must be over 18 and able to prove it. You are never too old. You will need to bring at least one example of a valid photo ID. In the UK this usually means a passport or photo driving licence. No ID No shoot even if your 21st birthday is a distant memory.

Where will my shoot take place? I no longer have a permanent studio. Most of the photographs on this site were taken on location or in models’ homes. I do occasionally hire a studio. To find out more Contact Me

Will I get paid? If you have little or no experience your first shoot will be on a TFP basis. That stands for ‘Time for Prints’ but ‘prints’ actually means digital images so you will receive a collection of the best images from the shoot for personal use. They can be used in your portfolio. If pictures from a TFP shoot sell commercially you will receive a fee.

After that I may offer you more TFP shoots. Commercial shoots such as for calendars, book covers or stock photography are on a paid basis. The rate depends on type of work, experience and potential sales.

Will I have to pay you? No. If you want specific pictures taken (see Custom Model Portfolios below) or want to buy prints from any of your photos I will charge for these at a discount rate.

Custom Model Portfolio Shoots

I can create models portfolios in any style for a fee. Usually around £90 – £250 depending on how much of the shoot is dedicated to my work how much to creating the specific images you want.
